AKANKSHA MOVING AHEAD WITH LIFE
The main aim of our School Enterprise VVSTROCKS is certainly profit maximisation but at the same time it was to make Akanksha students tech savvy under the guidance of regular day scholars. For this workshops were organised in which various activities were taken place eg. Celebration of special friendship day, song and dance programme and the results were amazing!!
To Explore and fine-tune the vocational skills, children are imparted vocational training, in the following areas, on regular basis in order to make them independent in a particular field:
Aakanksha (A Centre for children with specific needs) a holistic venture of Veda Vyasa DAV Public School, bringing a ray of hope in the lives of many special children. It was set up in August 1998 under the auspices of the DAV College Managing Committee. The project now has about 100 children and a team of dedicated professionals. Children with mild moderate and severe disabilities between the age of 3 years to 18 years are imparted education here
Each child is imparted individualized education and vocational training . The individual programmes aim at maximizing each child’s developmental functioning in all aspects including intellectual development, motor development, communication language, independent living skills, play skills, emotional and aesthetic skills etc. Vocational Training is imparted in the following areas:
- Art & Craft
- Clay Modelling
- Calligraphy
- Paper Recycling
- Embroidery Work
Making Rakhi’s, Diya’s, Greeting cards, Flower pots, Candles etc
The students participate in various International, National and State level Competitions and win laurels for the school. They are also a part of the school annual function and activities. The centre endeavours to facilitate skills and competencies that will prepare them to contribute to community and help them make a successful transition to the world of further higher education and work.
